First Steps in Online Teaching at SFTS

We, teachers, have been told to use Telegram. We can post photos and record audios directly on Telegram which is good. Students can also answer by recording, writing, or sending a photo of the page of their workbook for example. We can also send videos but the problem is the weakness of the internet at our student’s house.

It better than doing nothing… but…

During my last lesson I received the photos I asked from 7 student / 19. In total, 12 students / 19 connected with Telegram, some for a few seconds only! One students stayed connected the whole lesson: he was studying from the teachers’ room using a computer and WIFI! The others had difficulties staying connected. We could deduct that less than 50% of our students manage to join online and participate to the lesson. These features need to be checked with the other teachers but it is probably around the same results.

The main problem is that a lot of our students do not have the possibility to join online mainly because of a poor internet connection…

What can we do?
