Our ambition is to make the tourism section at Saint Francois Technical School the best of its kind in 3 years, 2020 /2023, in both English proficiency and professional skills. It is also to teach the best English ever in our Junior-High and Primary School. This is possible through a meaningful teacher training and the implementation of innovative teaching methodologies. We believe that Cambodian people deserve the best quality of teaching and we are working hard on that!
1-Each student cuts a set of little paper glassware,
silverware, chinaware, and linen.
2-Then, they must match them with a menu
3-Or they must guess what id the menu looking at a
table setting.
Learning should never be boring! Using this game will
definitely help the students to understand the concept of “Matching the table
setting with the menu”
I am filling in for the Agriculture English teacher who is
absent for around a month. I was a little worried about teaching that class
because the teachers told me that they didn’t want to speak.
Furthermore, each
time I asked some of these year 3 students at the center how they were doing in
English, the answer always was “áž–ិáž”ាក”.
Nevertheless, it went outstandingly well! I even managed to have them
“rap” about the photosynthesis, and more generally around the life cycle of a
plant!
It is not perfect yet, as you can see on the video above, but it was
only the first time!
So, what is the problem?
Pedagogy for sure, lack of teaching techniques…
My job here is to train the teachers and it’s a great mission, but
definitely not an easy one!
My main challenge it to get the teachers into a new spirit. It is not
easy because they have to realize, by themselves, that what they are doing now
is poor, boring, not effective what so ever. I don’t blame them, they just
teach like they have been taught with the same low results.
Of course I will never tell them that way, I don’t want to upset or
discourage them…
These kids in grade 3 are making their first public speaking
practice… Their speech follow the pattern above. All the class is involved
answering and even contesting them… It was the first time this class did this
activity and it went very well, and it will soon get even better!
A few minutes before that class I was talking with M. Ny. He
was asking me “How to get the kids to speak?”
