Here is what the Camfirst School is preparing to go online. (They
posted that on their Facebook page) I will be reflecting on the positive
aspects and on the questionable one.
On the pictures we can see that they make videos of the
teacher writing on the board.
Positive aspect:
The lesson of the teacher must be clear, so does what he
writes on the board. It means that the teacher has to prepare his lesson. The
presence of peers at this training session means that the recording teacher can
get feedback, which is essential.
Questionable aspect:
What is described as positive above, and which is really
positive, is more or less the kind of results we would have got in the 19th
century.
Since then, many progresses have been made especially
through neuroscience.
Will we be able to take this fantastic opportunity to JUMP
into the 21st century?
Why is Cambodia’s level of education one of the lowest in
the world?
Why is the level of English here
one of the lowest in the world? Because the level of teaching is just low, very
low!
At our schools here in Takeo Province, we can become great!
How to become the best?
By improving!
First step: Acknowledging that what we are doing now is not
the right way to do. Each and every teacher should consider himself as part of
an education system which gives poor results.
Second step: Each and every teacher should therefore be
willing to experiment new methodologies and share the results in group.
To reach the second step is a great challenge already.
Let’s achieve it!
