A subject to reflect about: (From Khmer Times - December 18th)
Even the clients of expensive International Schools like ISPP in this article, are not satisfied about the E-learning we all had to go though in 2020…
They mention the low quality of teaching, technical problem interfering with the learning process, but also the simple fact that home is not school!
Even our Prime Minister states that “The quality of education has declined.”
Nevertheless, there is something positive and interesting:
“Minister of Education Hang Chuon Naron told Khmer Times that face-to-face private tutoring is allowed in response to a parent’s concern if he can hire a private tutor to help his children with online learning. When asked if there is a limit on how many children, he answered that there is no regulation released by the ministry yet.”
That could be and interesting action to take in the event of another school closure, which is always possible.
We could for example, when our students are with us, organize groups of students living close to one another. I think that some public school; teachers did that at one stage of the pandemic. The problem of safety remains, but we can see that the ministry is not against this measure. It would also imply a new teaching style…
